World's worst band

I love it when local restaurants have live music.   You get dinner and usually, a great show.   A few weeks ago, a friend and I went to a small café and had a meal.   We were pleasantly surprised to find that the place had a band playing.   The music was great, thing from when we were younger.   We joined with other patrons singing along and laughing at the antics of several older couple who were dancing.   It was a great evening.   At one point we asked our waitress if the place had bands often, and upon finding that they did this every weekend, we decided to do this again sometime soon.   So, this past weekend we went back to the same café.   Unfortunately, the band was, for the most part, not playing any thing we recognized or enjoyed.   And unlike the first time we were there when the place was packed and the atmosphere was upbeat, this time, the mood was sober and the place was almost deserted.   My friend commented that the ...

Go, USA, Go!

Ah, the Olympics.   Athletes from all over the world come together to do all kinds of crazy sports – some you just wonder why they are even considered sports.   Like luge, no offense, but that looks an awful lot like what we used to do as kids with a sled.   Okay, maybe we didn’t have that great track and didn’t go quite so fast, so maybe it’s different.   Cross country skiing, don’t many people do that every day to get to and from somewhere?   No, I shouldn’t be knocking anyone’s hard work to do what they want to.   The important thing is to find a few friends, turn on the TV and cheer on team USA (or whatever country you’re from from).   And if you feel adventurous, try to create your own Olympics.   A friend and I did, we played a few games, nothing on the level of those athletes on the TV of course.   We ended up having more than a few laughs as we ended failing miserably at the games we invented.   I ended up with more than a few ...
So what book have I written you may ask?  Well you can check it out at this link - https://www.amazon.com/Road-Home-Leigh-Lincoln/dp/1537091328/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482416609&sr=8-1&keywords=leigh+lincoln There is a paperback, kindle and audible version for you to choose.  It's about a homeless hitchhiker who is done, she's ready to end it all.  She's going to take one final ride home but on that ride she finally tells her story.  The book was a work that had been on my heart for years.  Having done homeless/poverty advocacy for more years than I care to admit, I wanted to share a bit of the stories I'd heard.  From their viewpoint, with as compassion and sensitivity as I could.  But I also wanted my readers to think.  About how they view themselves, others, and the world around them.  About their lives and how they live, how they treat others, how they want to be treated.  I've meet enough people living in the ma...

So I created a Blog!

Well, I'm supposed to be this amazing writer now so I can do this blog thing - right?  After all I have written a novel, published it and people have purchased it, read it and liked it.  So I must have some talent, yet here I am sitting in front of this white page for what seems like forever.  Unsure what to write.  And now I'm telling you I have no clue what I'm doing here because I can't think of anything else to say.  But isn't life like that most of the time?  We wander through our day, wondering what the heck we are supposed to be doing?  Sure we've trained for years for our dream job yet now we are working at something else because the perfect job never seemed to materialize.  We look at our spouse or significant other and wonder how did we end up with him/her.  We look at our kids and wonder how did we raise such ungrateful snots.  Or maybe I'm the only one who ever feels like that...
